Armin Van Buuren: A State of Trance 2004 by : CD review By:
Mike H. Maturine.
The man has been around long enough to write his names in the history
books of trance music. Time after time he has delivered hard hitting
trance hits that have mystified listeners of all ages alike. He was
recently nominated for the DanceStar 2004 Best New Artists Album for
76, Armin's debut artist album. His continuous success has transpired
into his latest compilation, A State of Trance 2004. The double CD
set takes you into the world of Armin Van Buuren and his ability to
produce trance tracks that appeal to fans of all ages. The album is
slated to be released on May 4th and is expected not to disappoint
fans of Armin. I got a chance to listen to the CD and it s absolutely
Armin at his best. There are one or two vocal trance tracks on the
CD which gives the track listening some depth. This double CD compilation
is stacked with the some of the best trance tracks you will be hearing
in the clubs in 2004. Canada, get ready for trance like you have never
heard it before.
A Trip in Trance 3 CD review By: Mike H. Maturine.
As a trance enthusiast I was delighted at the release of this CD which
I was anticipating would match up to its predecessors. When I put
in the first of this 2 CD compilation I was not the least bit surprised
at the quality of the tracks. Even before you pop it in you can tell
A Trip in Trance 3 is filled with some of the hard hitting trance
beats that fill the clubs in Europe. The front cover highlight remixes
by Ferry Corsten and Darren Tate which lets you know that you are
about to embark on an experience in trance like no other.
Euromix X By: Mike H. Maturine.
It doesn't matter how many dance compilations you buy in a given year.
It doesn't matter what track listening it may contain and it doesn't
matter who makes it . What matters is that every year about this time
in February dance music's strongest supporters will be flock music
stores to by the most illustrious, most famed dance music compilation,
Euromix. This year will be no different as Euromix X(10) will grace
the walls of record stores on Tuesday February 24th..

The Annual 2004 Presented by The Ministry Of Sound by Mike Maturine
The Annual 2004 Presented by the Ministry Of Sound By: Mike
H. Maturine.
In a given year there are so many songs that stand out; the production,
catchy lines, beats that get you moving but only a selected few make
it on the Ministry of Sounds' The Annual compilations. The Annual
2003 included tracks like Heaven by DJ Sammy and Divine Inspiration.
The Annual 2004 follow-up picks up where last years' compilation left
off: with some of the year's best dance anthems. These songs are slated
to make their mark on the dance music scene and having been filling
the airwaves across Europe.

The Twilight Zone: How 80s Fashion has still captivated us in 2004 by Euroman
Fashion in the city has truly taken on a retro look with the kickboxing shoes as a prime example. Reebok, Puma and Miss Sixty are all capitalizing on this fashion frenzy and the demand seems to keep pouring in. I spoke to Willie, a Sales Associate at the Change Room on Queen Street about the kickboxing shoe style and why it is so popular. He mentioned that people wanted comfort but also with the boot look to it and that's why the kickboxing shoes made such a splash. What makes the style even so common is that people usually wear it with jeans and they tuck it inside the jeans, which is the in style for wearing kickboxing shoes. The grunge look is also a big fashion style now and bigger than before and trucker hats is a good addition to the look even though the entire trucker hat effect is somewhat played out.

Who will be The Big Names Representing Dance Music at the 2004 Juno Awards?
Who will be The Big Names Representing Dance Music at the 2004
Juno Awards? by EuroMan.
So what does Sound Blunts and Hatiras have in common with each other?
The answer would be 2003 and 2002 Juno Award winners for Best Dance
Recording. Space Invader if you remember was a raga track turned house
by Hatiras and sky rocketed world wide. Billie Jean the remake of
the Michael Jackson classic won the award in 2003. The nominees for
2003 in this category must also be credited for their hard work and
the great tracks which allowed them to be candidates. Original 3 which
are one of the most talked about groups and their claim to fame was
bolstered by Sunglasses at Night, the remake of the Corey Hart original.
MC Mario, Grand Menage and Boomtang also made the nomination list.

The Sunday Night Silence has been Broken Review by EuroMan.
The Sunday Night Silence has been Broken Review by EuroMan.
It was always believed that a Sunday night epitomizes that of silence
and relaxation. A night that everyone stays home, lay back and get
ready for another week on the job. That Ideology has long been thrown
out the window and Sunday nights are now marked by clubs with long
lineups and people not worrying one bit about working the day after.
People would dare stay out until 3 or even 4 am with the intention
of going to work for 9 am. Crazy you may call it but it is that growing
trend in club culture that has clubs like Fluid Lounge becoming immensely
popular on a Sunday night.
N.Y.C Underground Party Vol. 6 Review by EuroMan.
Ever since the first N.Y.C underground party I have been hooked on
this compilation. It has become very popular New York City. Louie
Devito is a renowned DJ in New York City and the U.S. and N.Y.C Underground
Compilation CDs have made him a house hold name for clubbers. The
latest addition to his repertoire is the N.Y.C. Underground Party
Volume 6. Once again Louie Devito shows us why he has one of the best
selling dance compilations in the U.S. The track selections are tastefully
done and each song corresponds with each other as the transition is
made.
Zoom on Down to Zoam by EuroMan.
So you like keeping up with today's latest fashion trends and you
like clothing that can turn heads when you're at a club. Let not forget
you want to encompass all these things as well as getting them at
a good price. Now, can one store deliver these results?
Club Menage Review by EuroMan.
The thought of a club playing all your favorite tracks in every music
genre bracket from yester year may not have been conceivable until
Club Menage with Z1035 teamed up to bring Way back Wednesdays to the
club circuit. From Euro, House, Freestyle to Hip Hop and Reggae this
place has all the tracks that topped the charts and broke records
from the late eighties to early nineties. The experience of going
to Club Menage on Wednesday will propel you to into a nostalgic mood,
the one that will have you reminiscing about the first time you heard
that special song. This is what you call the Power of Menage.
North 44 Review by Richard Robibero.
North 44 (located at 2537 Yonge Street, north of Eglinton), named
after the city’s latitude, enjoys a non-descript grey exterior that
just barely stands out due in part to the reserved valet space in
front of the restaurant. Once inside and your coats checked, you’ll
notice the subtle elegance I was hinting at in the opening paragraph.
A perfect blend of light browns and greys make up the interior as
candle-lit tables provide just the right amount of romantic glow.
Clutter is not what North 44 is about so aside from various floor
to ceiling mirrors adorning the walls you will find little else and
that suits me just fine.

Spuntini Ristorante Review by Richard Robibero.
From the minute you walk up the steps to Spuntini (located at 116
Avenue Road, just south of Davenport), you can't help but be reminded
of the mountainside eateries of Capri, Italy. The out-of-the-way restaurants
that dot the landscape and seem to have always been there, as if sprouting
out of the ground itself. The staff too, also seem to belong there
and no where else. Spuntini recreates this atmosphere effortlessly.
My interview with Jesse from Hotel Boutique Bar.
"Work your way up slowly don't rush and have a promotion name
on your first day.Ride the bench and stay in the shadows, these are
your only teaching tools available. Once you step out of the shadow
you may catch your self scrambling and rolling down a very steep hill
rather than slowly climbing your way to the top. "

at 16 years old,he had a Dj crew called 3rd Degree Soundcrew. Djing
Hall parties,House Parties,School Dances and occasional one offs was
what they where known for. Then he was asked to Dj and Promote a cafe
on College st. called Cuddles .He started off with a saturday night
there and ended up with Thursday ,Friday and Saturday that where rammed..He
met allot of people there that liked his style and would attend all
of his events, which made them very successful. One day he and his
friends were all partying at Whiskey Saigons Patio, about 30 of them,
he looked down to the street and saw a new club that was rammed,it
was FUSIONs Saturday Night. They attended Fusion for a few weeks and
thats where he met Paul the owner, Paul saw that they had a large
group with them week after week that spent a large amount of money.
They told him about their Dj-Promotion team and he hired them for
his Friday Nights. That's when they changed their name to QUIET STORM
ENT.And in a few weeks the club was rammed. That Friday Night built
a reputation for them in the nightclub industry. From there they went
from club to club."

"IN MY EXPERIENCE THE BEST WAY OF PROMOTING IS THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH
BUT BEST OF ALL IS THROUGH PERSONAL CONTACT...EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW
THE HEAD DOORMAN/OWNER/MANAGER AND THAT IS WHY I MAKE MYSELF APPROACHABLE
AND TRY TO GET TO KNOW AS MANY NEW CUSTOMERS AS POSSIBLE EVERY DAY/NIGHT."
Toronto's Nightclub Community comes together JUNE 19-22!
Toronto,
you belong here...The Nightclub Community comes together.
You would have thought with all the competition in the downtown
core between the city's top nightclubs would keep them from organizing
something like this, but that's just what happened. The weekend
of June 19-22 marks a first for any nightclub district in North
America. As a response to the sars outbreak, the nightclub community
in Toronto is giving back to the city and making an offer even the
most stringiest person can't avoid. A no-cover, no line offer to
entice tourists and torontonians alike to come out of their bomb
shelters and enjoy our city. For more info, check out Toronto's
Official Nightclub Community website, Torontonightclub.com.

TABLA 1055 Yonge St.
You can follow with saffron and ginger-spiced swordfish, jalapeño-crusted
prawns and spiced chicken in coconut curry broth, or quails with saffron-fennel
crust with orange curry sauce. Or there is Kashmir-style braised lamb
shank with apple and nut pilaf, with fennel, ginger and mace jus.
One cannot help but like the sound of lobster and scallop and tandoori
king prawn with spring vegetables and cilantro chutney. !
My Interview with Craig Essery from Therapy Ultra Lounge by Elizabeth

"I have put the best team together I could have imagined. Without
doubt the best staff in the city. I go to work every day and am amazed
that I've got every one of them. It's very important to me to have
a tight, hard working, professional and loyal team." He begged
his way behind a bar at a busy restaurant as a service bartender.
The 6 waitress's there trained him well though, and he became a very
good bartender and was ready when the jump came to the clubs.
Eau Restaurant Review by Richard Robibero.
Let's face it. The "resto-lounge" phenomenon is here to stay and the
days of attracting clientele based solely on the quality of the meal
are slowly fading. The fast-paced lifestyles of this city's inhabitants
demand an equally paced dining experience. Welcome to Eau. Eau (609
King Street West, dinner Wed-Sat) is the brainchild of Michael Sullivan
and Michael Summerfield (owner of 606, which happens to be located
across the street). Not to be confused with "O", you may have a tough
time convincing me that Eau is more restaurant than nightclub. From
the non-descript front entrance to the stairs leading up to, what
on this night sounds like Coleridge's Xanadu, this place has "nightclub"
written all over it.
Blowfish Review by Richard Robibero.
Riding a wave of curiosity that was based upon the celebrated opening
of Blowfish, and knowing that Zark Fatah of ZRF Productions had a
hand in the early successes enjoyed by the trendy new restaurant/lounge,
the timing for some great sushi and the best tasting sake in Toronto
couldn’t have been more perfect. Blowfish Restaurant and Sake Bar
(668 King Street West, Mon-Sat, 5pm-2am) takes up residence in what
was once an old abandoned bank. However, in unconventional fashion,
the people responsible for the newest hotspot have left the exterior
mostly untouched resulting in a building that is already comfortable
in its surroundings. It also avoids the "Hey, look at me" impression
given off by neon lights and tinted windows you'd find elsewhere.
Judging by the crowd inside, a lack of patrons is a problem that the
people in charge need not be concerned with.
